Title: Draft Addendum to Final Environmental Impact Report (EIR) No. 2011-002 (Reusable Bag Ordinance)

On Monday, April 20, 2015, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach voted to introduce an Ordinance to repeal Municipal Code Chapter 5.95, commonly referred to as the “Reusable Bag Ordinance” and certify an Addendum to Final Environmental Impact Report (EIR) No. 2011-002, which analyzed the potential environmental impacts of the Reusable Bag Ordinance when it was first adopted by the City Council on March 18, 2013.
On May 4, 2015, the Council voted to adopt an Ordinance to repeal the Reusable Bag Ordinance. *With this action, the City Council has eliminated the prohibition of the distribution of plastic carryout bags, and removed the mandatory 10 cent charge for the distribution of recyclable paper carryout bags.*
Unless delayed by referendum or other operation of law, the repeal of the Reusable Bag Ordinance becomes effective Thursday, June 4, 2015.
